Name of non-ferrous metals this group of metals and alloys was due to its color characteristics. For example, copper is red colored, and its alloys have a reddish tint.

Alloys are obtained by mixing molten metals in various proportions. Such mixing is obtained a product with improved properties than the original metal. There are alloys of light metals, alloys of heavy metals, etc.

Heavy non-ferrous metals include lead, copper, tin, zinc, nickel.

A large group consists of rare earth metals such as cerium, lanthanum, neodymium, praseodymium, europium, samarium, terbium, gadolinium, ytterbium, holmium, dysprosium, thulium, erbium, promethium, lutetium, yttrium and scandium.

Dispersed non-ferrous metals include indium and thallium, germanium and rhenium, selenium, hafnium and tellurium.

Another type of non-ferrous metals is radioactive metals: uranium, protactinium, thorium, radium, neptunium, actinium, americium, plutonium, einsteinium, californium, fermium, nobelium, mendelevium and laurentium.

Alloys of non-ferrous metals, in their various and certain proportions, help to achieve certain properties, thanks to which it becomes possible to use them both in mass and highly specialized production of technical products. The mechanical, physical and chemical properties of alloys can be changed not only by changing the proportions of the parent metals, but also by additional mechanical or chemical effects on them, for example, heat treatment, cold work, the application of aging technologies, etc.

Mechanical treatment of non-ferrous metals can include stamping and forging, pressing and rolling, soldering, welding and cutting.

Many cast products, as well as wire, squares, hexagons in the form of bars and coils, tapes and strips, sheets and foil are made of non-ferrous metals. Often in the production of powders from these metals are used.
